What to use to fill g/box oil

What do people use when undoing the drain plug an gearbox's. i ground a big allen key last time and ive lost it . can i buya tool or is there something else i can use?

8mm drain plug only 2-3 quid from motor factors

halfords do a full drain plug set for 10 notes, you will need a spanner to fit them or a adjustable spanner
