I blame Bean0 for this one :p
Basically saw Bean0 mentioning Live For Speed, thought I'd download the demo, try it, had it for a few months, mainly online play, soo much fun :) Drag racing, complete with Christmas Tree, Drifting, normal circuit racing, or as i've just found normal cruising complete with roundabouts, (fun in RWD ;)) lol.
Then the other day a patch was released, installed it, and couldn't find some of the servers that I usually go on. So, bored of the other servers, I decided to pay up, so now I've paid £24 for a full licence and have got S2, sooo much more fun without people randomly crashing into you. Its also part of the reason why im up all night, racing people from Australia ffs!
All in all people, the graphics aren't photo real, a la Gran Turismo, but don't let that put you off, its sooooo much more deep than GT, in one of the views you can see the tyre walls flexing, you can burn the clutch out, full body damage etc.

Used to play this a few years ago when the demo only had 2 cars and 2 tracks. A little saxo/106 type thing and a big RWD thing.
Might download again.

Say goodbye to your social life ;)
With the recent patch, the XRT (Turbo'd RWD) was removed from the demo and replaced with the FBM (Formula BMW). There was quite a large 'drifting scene' in the demo that used this car, and they are dis-chuffed with its removal.
Now you're S2 licensed, a good way to improve your skills is to hit the CTRA ranked servers. You get points for results, and work towards different ranked licenses which allow you access to higher level servers and quicker cars. www.raceauthority.com for more details.
Don't be scared to ask the faster guys for their setup either (wait for the race to end though), this game has one of the friendliest communities I've known.
This slowmo vid by a guy called Don really shows off the tyre flex and suspension movement...

Tried to download it ages ago and it didn't work (I must of messed up somehow ) so I downloaded it again today and had a play.
It's pretty good! First game I've played where it seems easier to the in car view, and I quite like the driving with the mouse (though expect it's a whole lot better with a wheel!).
I'll have a go at getting used to it before I get the full version, just annoying being limited to one circuit and two cars :o I'm terrible at it at the moment :p

Yeah, I saw in the LFSW forums that some of the demo users weren't happy about the XRT being removed, but meh, maybe it'll convince them to do what I did and buy a licence. The licence thing, is that where you start on the learner licence, and have to get throuhg 30 levels? If so, I managed to get up to level 18 last night :)
I did have some drag sets before the patch, but i've lost them now :( was managing to pull mid/high 12 seconds.
Woody, the 106/saxo thing and the big RWD thing, that looks to me like an old RX7 are still in the demo, the turbo RWD thing is the car that's causing all the commotion atm, but there's a BMW F1 car thats replaced it now.
James, get yourself online, and into the multiplayer servers, thats where the real fun begins. :D:D

Aye, I'm a bit dangerous at the moment, don't want to piss anyone off :o
Where do I get this from?
Can I get it for free?

Type 'Live for Speed' in Google ;)
And yes, demo version is free :)
Can someone explain in basic for what it is?
Just like GT4?

Yeah basically, but it's all more realistic with the way the car handles and the way you set it up from what I've seen, rather than looking better.

Racing game, more of a sim than an arcade racer.
Designed for online racing really, although there are AI you can race offline.
You don't upgrade your cars, but there are a load of setup options to play with.
To use old setups with the new patch, they need renaming and putting into a different folder, there's an app on LFS Forums to sort it all out for you :)
At Anniversarallye, I ran a small hotlap competition with the prize being an OMP Helmet from 106Parts.
There were quite a few takers on the day, with varying results.
Im hooked!
Anyone fancy a race? :p

I think you mean the Formula BMW, I just did a 59.03 in the F1 car which is itself a pretty crap time.
My PB for FBM at BLGP is 1:16.940, only done 13 laps though.

The XRT is a great car, but can be a handful to drive.
I almost always race, but do pop onto drift servers from time to time.
Well and truly mate.

Find a server running the dragstrip as a track :)

They have changed to way you do online play and for some reason i cant get into any of the races. I downloaded the UK server but it doesnt show any races :(
Anybody else have this problem? Or know how to fix it?
...the server i downloaded is now stopping me from even opening the LFS game :(

I've had the full version of LFS2 for a year or so now (Vicky has it too). I need a wheel and some pedals really as most of the cars are quite hard with a keyboard even with a good set up! Racing online is good fun though!

Yup, wheel and pedals are on my agenda, even though, Im getting used to the cars with the keyboard, im sure that with a wheel and pedals, it should feel much better. :)

I've had LFS since it was a demo. It's very good but you need a wheel to really get into it which I haven't got so I don't bother playing it much at all anymore.
Edit: Doh didn't see that above :P

Yup, as long as its a usb connection, as you've told me it is, then it should work, and as far as im aware thats what quite a few people use. :)
