this is a basic guide i put together a little while ago

i would start with:

-rinsing all dirt off the car, if using a pressure washer use at an acute angle to the panels.

-Snow foam the car, to remove extra dirt off car, leave for 5mins.

-Whilst waiting, clean the wheels and tyres. i use wonderwheels on alloys and tyres

-rinse all snow foam off the car and rinse wheels.

-then wash the car using two bucket method, there could be a guide on this somewhere. I use a wash mitt with maxi suds 2 and megs hyper wash.

-rinse car again removing all soap.

-run water over the car and let the water sheet off.

-Dry the remaining water with a micro fibre drying towel. i use a eurow X towel.

-Apply tyre dressing to tyres, i use megs tyre endurance gel.

-Apply autoglym bumper care to black plastics

-Clean glass inside and out, i use a mix of white vinegar and water.

Thats a simple weekly clean for me, this will not add shine to the car but my car already has its polish and wax on it. this method reduces scracthes and swirls to the car.

A full detail will include alot more steps. which could include

-after the first wash i would claybar using the car using megs clay kit.

-Wash the car again with the two bucket method.

-Dry the car, as before.

-I would then use Dodo juice prime lime paint cleanser

-Apply 1 coat of autoglym super resin polish

- Apply 2 layers of Dodo juice wax, leaving 30 mins in between each coat.

I would use an applicator pad to apply the polish and wax and a decent micro fibre cloth to buff off.

im sure people can add to these steps but should be a good basis.

at foxy do you have a pressure washer?

other than using the snow foam, you could prob use a citrus degreaser on the lower half of the car, to remove some of the crap.
