Dual core cpu's (in laptops and pc's) say its a 1.66ghz cpu is that its speed full stop?
or is the 1.66ghz timed by two as its dual cored?

Double that mate
I have an athlon 64bit dual core 4600
But the operating system reports 2.41ghz core speed x 2 - which is 4.8ghz ;)
thanks fuzz, so just to clear things up

so that would be 1.66ghz doubled = 3.32ghz

Looks like 1.66ghz mate

That seems well cheap for 1gb of ram and a 100gb sata drive with MCE2005

I was running a normal 32bit 3200+ for ages and it flew
Upgraded to an amd 64bit x2 dual core 4600+
With 2 nvidia 7600gt cards running SLI
asus a8n32-sli deluxe motherboard which runs both graphics cards at 16x pci-e
And the machine absolutely flys LOL
But then its a development machine really running dual 17" tft screens - use it for web development

I've only got a Gig of RAM at the mo and was thinking of upping it sometime soon. Definately worth it then! However my 1.81Ghz AMD 64+ CPU will not be getting changed, not as quick as some of you guys but it'll do me for now I think.
