FRENCH HATCHBACKS ARGHHHHHHHHHHHH
as much as i love the rallye, most days i go through a stage of wanting to hit it several times with a very very big sledge hammer.
speedo cables are a ballache
dash's never go back as they should.
the only way to get the big centre console/clock surround off is to snap it off at the corner?
seats loose, i need a new bolt.
why did some stupid twat put a silver petrol cap on a red car??
my cd player broke, something else that i need to buy..
all this and im still not on the fooking road :mad::mad::mad::mad:

I shall update this:
AHHHHHHHHH FUCKING CARS
back wheel is now mysteriously loose, something to do with the drum i presume.
Because some tosser put an induction kit on the car the throttle cable now basically touches the engine and gets far too hot.
And i still need money
I feel like torching my car

*edit* the bolts arent loose at all, you can just wobble the back wheel!
Well got home last night, checked tyres for some reason and noticed the back wheel was wobbly!
And when i have been going over my mates rough drive i thought something was loose?!
Me and dan have taken the wheel off this morning and the drum moves about.. put thewheel back on and it's better than before but still not perfect.
Big job if the drums are knackered?
Also, i put my handbrake on when we went for a photoshoot the other night on loose ground and only the right hand side wheel locked up.....

I don't have the answer to your problems, but all I will say is stick with it. I came close to putting mine up for sale and started looking at black 172s because there's so much work to be done on it. You probably saw my threads on here and the Rallye Register. I found it annoying that someone elses idea of ultra low suspension wasn't to my taste and was actually breaking the car apart! I just couldn't bare to get rid of it though and now I have a new exhaust on I'm much happier and all the problems seem insignificant.
The conclusion I came to was: For the extra money I would have to spend to get a nice Clio, I may as well spend to get the Rallye fixed. I saw your other thread and I must say, to an extent I like to be a perfectionist, but a Rallye isn't about that, else it would probably have electric windows and central locking and extras :p I hope you keep it and get it all sorted out! :)

If you need new drums, good time to upgrade the brakes!
BTW, it does look a really nice car on the outside, so i would agree with james, stick with it.

Does the front piece of the drum (that the wheel bolts to) move about
Or does the whole arm move about
If the arm moves about you need a new rear beam - not a great job
If just the drum bit moves around then your rear wheel bearings are fucked which is an easy job :)

The arm doesnt move mate, im pretty damn sure.
Its just the drum bit. is it still usable??
Wheel bearings expensive or not?
Cheers :)

wheels bearings arent too expensive.
i needed some for my MOT and got them off 106 parts i paid i think about £50 for both front & postage.
if the bearings on the front are the same as the back, i have 1 i could sell you as it turned out i only needed the 1 side doing.

Im sure phil will know if they are the same.
Would this cause one side of the wheel not to lock up with the handbrake though?
And is my car still safe to use. i need it really!
I hope it is just the wheel bearing!

If its phsyically moving around I wouldnt drive too fast/far mate
You have two choices
1) buy a couple of rear wheel bearings (worth doing both really), take your hubs off and get them machine pressed in
or 2) buy a couple of new rear drums
There is an engineering place in gainsborough on that industrial estate opposite morrisons - do a lot of coach and lorry work
I use them for hyrdraulic pressing work
They will probably charge about £20
And the rear bearing kit is available from 106parts
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-REAR-Wheel-Bearing-Kit-for-PEUGEOT-106-ALL-MODELS_W0QQitemZ330107481795QQcategoryZ10406QQssPa geNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Costs just over £50 delivered
Not a cheap repair i'm afraid :(
Other option mate is to go to a scrap yard - take the rear drums off and stick them on your car as a temp fix ;)

Only just found this thread lol
When the wheel was off we gave the drum a gentle "tap" with a hammer and it wasnt as loose as what it was before, does that sound like the bearings?
Does Nigel work at the place Phil is on about Nick? Get him to have a gander at it!
