I've read quite a few times about a two bucket method, just wondering what its all about as im really into my detailing but cant see the possible need to use two buckets
IIRC one bucket full of soap and one full of clean water.
you use the soap on the car obv, and then wash the sponge or wash mitt in the clean water to save putting all the dirt back into the soapy water with goes back onto your car.

i see, i normally just rinse any crap off the sponge anyway if my car is really dirty
Plus wont the clean water not get dirty, thus putting the dirty sponge/wash mitt into dirty water to put it back into the soapy bucket lol

You need two buckets, Wash mitt, car shampoo and warm water in the winter months.
A grit-guard is also a very worthwhile using and sits at the bottom of the bucket (I have two, one in the rinsing bucket and one in the wash solution bucket). When dunking you mitt into the fresh water bucket, rub it across the grit guard to increase the amount of grit particles which are removed from the mitt.
Also, it keeps them trapped at the bottom of the bucket so even less chance of the mitt picking them back up and them reaching your paintwork to inflict scratches.
One with wash solution and the other with plain water or a squirt of shampoo.
Dip your washmitt into the wash bucket and wash the car in sections. E.g half a roof.
Then dip, wash and rinse the washmitt in the second bucket.
Then back into the wash bucket and onto the car again.
Just try not to get the buckets mixed around the wrong way
The idea is that the clean water rinses out the dirt and grit particles from the mitt so that they cannot come into contact with your paint, reducing the number of swirls inflicted.
Proof can be found by looking at the crap in the bottom of the rinse bucket.
shall i also put this in the guides section?
Plus the water that has the solution in should be clean and the wash bucket should be filthy:)

sounds a bit of a mess on tbh, i always wash my car in sections anyway, and i constantly check the sponge before dipping back in the bucket, as i also own a black car i knw the effects a tiny bit of grit can do to the paint
Also am i just being stupid or does everyone else rinse a panel at a time
This is how i would wash my car
Rinse car
Wash roof, rear window and front window, then rinse off soap solution
Rinse side of car, then wash that side of the car, making sure arches are done and door checks, then rinse off
Rinse Bonnet and front bumper then wash, and rinse again
The same princible for the other side of the car and the rear,
I usually keep which ever panels i have cleaned as wet as possible to avoid anything scarming
The reason for rinsing each panel again before washing is just to make sure everything that could come lose with a bit more rinsing will get its chance to go, also leaving a wet panel to clean
I've taught my friends this same method and it seems to work well with them as well
I always dry off with a valeda Flunkey and turtle wax blade
I have two valeda Flunkeys, the best one for the body of the car, and the other for the door checks and wheels

I cant be bothered to really wash the car at the mo, gets dirty again. I have a 5 bucket method involving filling up a bucket chucking water at the car 5 times :D shifts chunks of mud!

haha, i very much doubt it matey, as i use industrial handglaze which gets away practically every swirl there is :)
I did it on my megane plenty of times (around 4 times a year)
Which included starting with clay bar, then handglaze, then doing steps of polishing from there on in
i'l try and get some pics of the paintwork under my garage lights

sorry for pic whoring
But anyway, thinking about it, it doesnt really have swirls anymore, as I've got the paintwork pretty much spot on,
When i bought the car it was full of swirls but now ive managed to get rid of them

Well why don't you agree to disagree, your quite happy with your way and think yours is the best and they are happy with their two bucket method.
Personally I prefer the pay someone else to do it method.
Each to their own......

No i just cant see the difference with using a lamb wool mitt and a sponge as ive never had a problem with using a sponge
And yes im very happy using my own method im just always open to new idea's, just trying to figure out if its actual worth it

getting a black car in a week gona have to learn to de-tail cos i have feeling its gona have been washed with a brillo pad lol!
Just try the the wash mit. you will see yourself the difference.
I always used cheapy soap suds to wash the car, until a friend gave me some gold class megs. The difference was unbeleivable
