Rear seats are peice of cake to take out of the Rallye (can't see it being any different on a GTi), bottom bench tilts forward and just lifts off, back rest is four nuts at the bottom that you can see in the boot :)

I've not done fronts though :(

Front are just as easy, just a lil bit awkward.
There are 4 torx (cant remember the size) situated on the extremes of the rails (subframes). 2 on door side, and 2 tunnel side.

There is also the pretensioner wiring, best done after seats are unbolted, for easy access.

Front are T30 torx bits (or T40 - one of the two) you could do with them on a socket with a big extension - makes it easer

Roll seats forward and theres one going into the sill, and one down into the exhaust tunnel
Remove both, roll seats all the way back and remove same 2 from front
Make sure to disconnect orange cable under seat that goes to seat belt pre-tensioners (best to have battery disconnected)

Rear bottom bits just lift forwards and come out
The back you do from the boot - tilt the seats forward and there are 2 13mm nuts on either side - remove those
Then in the middle you need a T15 (I think) torx bit to undo a little screw on the centre mounting plate. Remove that and lift the top plate up. Slowly tilt the seats back and at the right angle they pop out :)

<haynes stylee> Fitting is a reversal of removal </haynes> ;)

i do, dont fancy an airbag blowing my head to pieces while crusing along :)

The airbag aint the bit that worries me - its the pretensioner going off and slicing my thumb clean off LOL
