Why pay £300 for a cutting edge console and £500+ for a suitable TV then ruin the experience with a £10 lead ?

TV then ruin the experience with a £10 lead ?Can you provide us with some proof?
This 1 looks ok and its only 15 quidLooks spot on mate.
Yeah sure you can buy a 70 quid HDMI leads but all your paying for is the 24k gold contacts, Triple-layer shielding & fancy name that no1 have ever heard off anyway. At the end of the day if the cable is
Gold plated connectors
Fully HDCP compliant
Supports up to and including 1080pJob done, the signal is digital so unless you live next to a thermal reactor where you would get signal interference I can't see how getting a cheaper lead will be SOOOO different... If it was noticeably different I will go and buy one for my HDDVD player, Xbox360 and PS3 but until then I'm using the normal 20 quid HDMI leads.
If anyone can provide me with proof that the above is completely wrong please say and will take it all back.

im into my home AV... and to be honest, ive spent £100's(litrally) on a HDMI cable as supposedly they are alot better, but on my system (££££ not ur usual TV, DVD setup), I can't tell the difference between the free one that comes with your dvd player, and the £100 super dooper one..
End of, Cheapest You Can Find The Better, slong as it has the thing mentioned above by ghostfacesuk

^ Thanks mate also have a read of this, http://uk.gamespot.com/forums/show_msgs.php?board_id=909102863&topic_id=25837758
I've done a lot of hunting about on the net and the only reason I can find for buying a expensive HDMI cable is if the cable is over 50ft LOL!
And again all your paying for is the shielding just to protect the cable from interference, that is it.

As with most things, common sense prevails.
I would prefer a £25 branded cable over a $2.99 cable any day.

No one said anything about a $2.99 cable ??
In the original post stevenage25 asked ive got a ps3 and i want 2 buy a cable but dont want to spend 40-50 quid if theres a cheaper alternative.and RobQuicky106 said This 1 looks ok and its only 15 quid

It seems to me that you are disagreeing with RobQuicky106 for his choice in leads.
In that link you have provided it says
Cheaper cables are not as carefully constructed and typically don’t have enough shielding to reject outside interference. Poorly constructed ends are another contributor in degrading the digital signal. Then again A poorly constructed cable will not be able to hold to the proper impedance rating necessary to run over longer lengths which cause errors in the pictureThis is a marketing point from Monster cable, sure they compared there cable against, poorly made/faulty cables which may of been a shoe string for all I know. That isnt a fair test and still have no proof, also lol at the "poor cable performance picture". This is how they make there money, by making people think if they don't buy there cable there picture will look like that. Again its marketing not a proper test.
Seen this many times before In home entertainment mags, online adverts, etc... but when it comes down to the end users (for example the people in the link I provided in the last post) they can't tell the difference. (providing that the cables are not faulty and no one dropped a box of magnets behind the TV).

I haven't even looked at the lead linked to by whoever.
I'm arguing that there will be a difference in the quality of cables depending on their price. This seems to be proven by the article I linked.
As I have said, use common sense. If you have laid out on a few grands worth of AV equipment, then a £100 cable isn't really going to hit you in the pocket that much. If you are just after something to get a console connected to a TV and don't care about any artifacts, get the cheapest you can find.
Do Richer Sounds still do the thing where you leave them a deposit and take away a box of expensive cables to try with your own setup ?
If they do then it might be worth a try to get a definitive answer.

Well I have to agree with ghostfacesuk, and I also think that with the monster cable that’s costs about £65 you’re mainly paying for the brand and the actual quality of the cable is not that much better, and also just because the price is higher does not automatically make the cable better and as ghostfacesuk said if the user cant tell the difference, so why pay the extra money fro little if any improvement of quality
