View Full Version : the progress from start to now.
well i bought my car off a friend, which was pretty much standard apart from mirrors and strut brace and induction kit also lowered.
no picture of when i first bought it but only after a few hours of owning it i wanted some new alloys so i purchased a set of "15 ace 205 alloys.
this was all before id even passed my test.
at this time i got a job at a local bodyshop
i met a lad once who had a dimma 106 and he sent me a few pictures of it and i loved it and wanted mine like it, but with getting a job at a body shop this help out alot with the price of things ie fitting and spraying other wise id never of being able to afford it.
Shorty after i bought the kit, which sat in my garage until we had space to get it into the bodyshop.
took around 7 months to get the kit fitted and sprayed due to me being in no rush for it as i hadn't passed my test.
few pictures from the body shop

http://img47.imageshack.us/img47/6523/body3bg0.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
bought some kahn rsv's sprayed light gray with ecosse center caps.
after that came the exhaust system which now i currently hate, but its getting lifted up abit and fit nicely into the bumper hopefully
http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/1574/exhuasttz4.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
then into primer it went, look at them rear wheels lol.
http://img507.imageshack.us/img507/2179/primerwz1.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
i then took a week off work, he phoned me up while i was off and asked what colour i wanted it, and i didnt have a clue tbh hadn't really put alot of thought into it......so i said do it what ever colour you want
The next week i went into work and saw it and loved it bright orange cant miss it!
goes well with the wheels also!
fresh out the booth

http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/4761/booth1se7.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
got offered a place on a stand at this time so started getting it built up ready for the show.
in need of front wheel spacers.
http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/6131/buildyd4.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
at the show.
http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/3743/normaldsc05012qv0.jpg (http://imageshack.us/)
after the show i got the new suspension fk coilovers, and fk rear shock absorbers, lexus rear lights and new m3 mirror for it to pass mot for the indicators.
http://img159.imageshack.us/img159/2460/silverbe1.jpg (http://imageshack.us/)
decided id rather have black mesh so changed that. thought it look 100 times better goes better with the black and orange theme that's started.
http://img159.imageshack.us/img159/4210/blackmeshvz2.jpg (http://imageshack.us/)
got the rear torsion bar lowered.
http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/4830/loweredli3.jpg (http://imageshack.us/)
then came the 2 12" alpine type s subs and v power amp no pics of them yet.
then got some black angel eyes.
http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/7514/angelmc8.jpg (http://imageshack.us/)
now we are up to date pretty much, was my 18th birthday not long ago got some bucket seats and private plate waiting to go on hopefully some time later in the week, ill post pics when fitted

Not really a fan of the mirrors or the lexus lights, but everything else looks spot on there :) That colour is gorgeous, very similar to what my mate had his GTi sprayed
And it started off as a standard Quiky?!

sick car mate, love it
Would of thought with doing all that work you'd of de-badged the front.
I dont like the mirrors at all.
Overall a nice motor though. :)

Love it. standard mirrors and it will be perfect.
I'd have to have the full wide track conversion for peace of mind though.
Saw this when you was building it on the adrenalintrip mx forums.

I LOVE it, its stunning mate! Work looks tip top too!
I dont usually like the mirrors or lights but the mirrors sit quite well with the width of the car, lights are nicely themed to be fair. Its pukka mate!
Engine conversion .... :D
Simply stunning matey, the only thing id change, wud be 2 get the front debadged, and youv got far too much money for an 18 yr old, lol.
With a maxi think its looks good with the badge on,
looks awsum! 16v next?
Raz
Really nice motor there, except the mirrors!
What about some Lambo doors?
dont think you can fit lambo doors because of how far the front arch sticks out mate.
would love a gti engine on throttle bodies just to finish it off then sell it.
Ah yeh, good point. Didn't think of that!
little up date painted the engine cover and maifold cover, an subs

how long would it take to do it as well???

I like the old ones actually, but then again the new ones might grow on me. Ive gone down to 17`s as i want to keep the 18`s for track. How have you gone on with full lock, does it catch at all. Ive put modified wishbones on and i can now get full lock with space, i was wondering how yours is. The color has also grown on me as i thought it was a bit bright to start with but it looks great now.
it catches on full lock just. im goiing to do a little more bashing away when i get a chance.
its ment to be bright makes it stand out :D

up date. Had the side exit exhaust fitted then straight off to the bodyshop for a respray, the orange had alot of stone chips etc so needed a respray so i thought id change the colour, found the colour i wanted got it resprayed ready for the new season, also had the badge smoothed. The spray job its excellent very happy with the quality its like a sheet of glass, scott dickson of carlisle is highly recommended for anyone t'up north by me

Absolutely love it mate... Only thing I would change are the mirrors (maybe DTM's with the indicators), but overall top notch... Looking forward to seeing it at the shows this year...

have you got any pictures of the interior mate??
btw loving the new colour, saw you in buger king the other day too, looks immense!
i used to work in a bodyshop and had an argument with the boss, so i never went back. I still do little jobs for mates etc.
I'm not sure on that green thanks for the ps, might go and see how much the dude will charge. An you can get glow in the dark paint somewhere I've seen it, that's another idea.
keep the idea coming lol

19-04-2008, 08:58 AM
yep you can get luminous paint! my mate sprayed his wheels on his gsxr in orange,**** me they are bright
and bodywork is shite lol,i cant wait to get out of it now tbh
might try it.
I only enjoy doing little bits of bodywork i loose interest when theres loads
Im learning the restraunt cooking trade working for my dad now and quite like it, but it was good to learn how to do bodywork it comes in very usefull

I personally think that when it was orange with the khans on it looked the mutts nutt. Now with those wheels its lost all appeal to myself personally
The khnas would still look mint on the green.
Ever thought of a spoiler? maybe even just a gti one perhaps?

I could imagine it comes in handy, id love to know where to start when doing bodywork, ive got the space to get into it just no gear or the skills.
Id love to give parts of my car the once over to tidy it up...sending it to be done professionally just isnt an option for my 10yr old work horse

if u dont mind me asking m8 how much was the respray because that looks like a top job tbh
I personally think that when it was orange with the khans on it looked the mutts nutt. Now with those wheels its lost all appeal to myself personally
The khnas would still look mint on the green.

The khans were outdated and every fooker and their brother had them on so i changed them still got them but they are 17's id rather have 18's fill the arches better.
No i dont think a spoiler wouldnt suit either i like how its smooth.
Cost me £1200 for a tip top spray job very please with it, think the guys at the bodyshop are trying to get there name about i think hence the cheap price.
looks better in the green but i think the alloys let it down
some nice chunkier ones would look better than the ones you've got but thats just my opinion

greens only unlucky if its with blue.
"Blue and green shouldn't be seen"
a quick story:
brought a kx 85 (green motocross bike) of a lad who had fallen off it and broken both bones in his leg. bike was absolutley fine, nothing wrong with it at all. the boy was wearing blue clothing. tried to sell it to me but i said no :) lol.
also leon, how did u get a job in a bodyshop? im 16 and was thinkin about going into that type of work. i have no knowledge about cars or anything to do with them. just would really interest me. what would u recoment me doing?
