gear box/ clutch problem

hi bought a gear box off a forum member, fitted it along with a new clutch, but went to drive it out the garage and it wouldnt go anywere.

It will go into gear without the clutch but is quite stiff but when you use the clutch it goes into gear alot easier, which makes me think its the gear box as the clutch is working...

We jacked the car back up and when you spin the front tire the other side spins with it....

Now on a mates gti when you spin the front wheel the other wheel stays still.


So just want someone to confirm its the gear box, sounds like its the diff?

or any other ways to test if its the gear box or not?

if i put mine on the ramp and spin one wheel the other will spin too.thats normal.put ur car into third gear and try and pull off,if it stalls ur clutch is working fine.ur diff might have gone on the box

sounds like a problem witht the diff to me.

Yea its normal if they spin the opposite way tho isnt it....

And i jacked up my other 106 gti and span the wheels and the other side doesnt move....confused:confused:
