Welcome to my blog
Gonna use this thread to keep a rolling diary of work on my car, please dont spam it, keep to relevant chat ;)
Bodywork and Engine Bay
Little bit of an update.. as most of you know just before christmas I got my smoothed boot sprayed and my rear bumper touched up.
In the quest to make my car show worthy once again I've got some tidying up to do...
Starting with the wing mirrors - the ones on my car I sprayed myself in a bit of a rush about 2 years ago and they are awful quality. So I have acquired some 2nd hand wing mirror covers which im gonna sand down, smooth and spray silver
http://www.fuzzy-orange.com//wp-gallery/My%20Car/Spraying%20Mirrors%20and%20Rocker%20Cover%20(Jan%2 02007)/wing_mirror_covers1.jpg
Also on my list of things to do is to paint up my rocker cover and air box
I had a spare rocker cover so i've started sanding this down ready for painting silver
http://www.fuzzy-orange.com//wp-gallery/My%20Car/Spraying%20Mirrors%20and%20Rocker%20Cover%20(Jan%2 02007)/rocker_cover1.jpg
New Wheels
The steel wheels weren't to everyones taste, and I will admit they went better with the rally car look than they do the new smoothed look
Before I bought the steelies I was trying to find some saxo vts wheels - rather unsuccesfully
Well my mate Darren was lovely enough to sell me his VTS wheels as his 106 was recently written off
I don't have any pics yet cos its dark everytime I get home - but I will take some soon.
Plan for the wheels is to get them refurbed in anthracite :D
Engine
My quest for a new engine is still going slowly - finding a good condition 3 plug vtr lump with an ecu and key and everything ready to rock and roll is proving difficult
Currently got my eye on a local saxo vtr which has been written off - might buy the whole car and just take the bits I need from it then ebay the rest :)

Will be interesting to see the progress.
*cough supercharge a vtr lump cough* :D
Who did the bodywork for you, anyone local?
Do them mirror covers also fit phase one 106's? I'll be looking to spray mine white.
Fuzzy Orange
10-01-2007, 04:12 PM
I think you have to get phase 2 mirrors mate
Supercharger probably wont happen - cam and throttle bodies MIGHT in the future
For now i'd be happy with a standard engine running 110bhp ;)
The bodywork was done by that place in gainsborough next door to tesco petrol station
Cheap and bloody awesome quality!!
106nick
10-01-2007, 04:17 PM
I'll look into it. As some Xsi's has colour coded mirrors and some don't.
Anyway.. I think that bodyshop is called rg repairs? something like that.
Once took my bmx frame there to get sprayed, they did a good job then.
Havent thought about 16v'ing it?
*edit, it's called KG motors - not far out :D*

Good plans going on, the vtr lumps are pretty good, ive got two of them so i can compare them as one is a single plug one and the others a 3 plug one. More pics are needed when the spraying is done and general pics of the whole car would be good so i can get some ideas for mine. Keep up the good work.
fuzzy you so shouldn't of sanded those mirror covers, i just painted mine in citreon possi blue as its the same paintcode as my car, but the match isnt 100% as i sprayed myself but that is my paint colour those covers!! lol
Fuzzy Orange
10-01-2007, 11:42 PM
LOL mate they were fucked
They were covered in scratches - came off a GTi that I knicked the mirrors off as I was gonna wire up heated electric mirrors at some point heehehe

Loving the progress! Sure it will be show worthy if its past looks are anything to go by.
Btw fuzz, seriously give that tsrussell place a call, i was down there again other day talking to one of the lads, asked him about the vtr lumps, he sed at one stage they had that many in, they gave some away :o :o :o
They deliver too.
Ill be going back no doubt on friday to see if i can grab a rocker cover and some 307 washer jets ;) ;) so i can enquire if you like ??? The place is full of vtrs n other pugs at the mo, definately worth a gander, thats on top of bits they got on shelf.

Mate do me a HUGE favour
Jot this down somewhere
I need a saxo vtr engine
Must be 2000 reg or newer with 3 plug ecu
Thats the really important bit
I need engine, ecu, wiring loom, inlet manifold, starter etc..
I DONT NEED gearbox, or exhaust manifold
I have cash literally sat waiting :)
That'd save me loads of hassle cos I work all day and mobiles are banned in the office :)
pugginquik
11-01-2007, 12:54 AM
Ok mate, ill let you know how i get on. Will surprise me if he ain't got one in, there's so many write of vtrs in there!
Where about do you live, for delivery price?
Fuzzy Orange
11-01-2007, 12:57 AM
Near doncaster mate
He's got a 2000 vtr and a 2002 vtr on the breaking list
*drools*
If he's got one in mate there will be some cash going his way fairly sharpish
Would need the ecu, wiring loom, immobiliser, transponder and key though
Make sure he's ok with that cos some places get grumpy about sending keys out :)
pugginquik
11-01-2007, 01:03 AM
Should be ok with that, was gonna ask you bout key and pick up ring. Will let you know what he says then. Shouldn't moan i send enough people his way!
Will let you know Friday then.
LOL mate they were fucked
They were covered in scratches - came off a GTi that I knicked the mirrors off as I was gonna wire up heated electric mirrors at some point heehehe
ahh fair play! just i cant find any shops near me that sell nevis blue paint! not halfords or wilco do, so just used possiedon blue as paint code is the same.

UPDATE - French plates and vts wheels
Speaking to my mate Darren last weekend I talked myself into getting rid of the steelies for some VTS wheels :D
They aren't mint - front are quite badly kerbed - but the tyres are good and they are balanced and straight
Fitted them at his house last weekend but only just had chance to take photos (and it was getting dark again :()
Gonna do some photoshops but chances are next month they will be refurbed and powder coated black or probably anthracite :D
Also fitted my french number plates which I think really brighten the exterior - loving it :D
This week i'm going out to buy sat nav ready for the shows and my nurburgring trip with Daz in the summer
In 2 weeks I'm going over to see Shelli and her boyfriend and buying his corbeau reclining seats
Then i'm probably stripping the rear out and carpeting it all and getting on the look out for a roll cage LOL
VTR engine as soon as one comes up i'll be buying it then painting it up in my garage and fitting a cat cam :D
Sorry the pics are a bit crap (getting dark and my camera phone dont work too well in the dark)

Looking good mate.
Just lose them bonnet pins now for the ultimate show look. ;)
They going to go when you get the front end respray?!
Fuzzy Orange
13-01-2007, 06:04 PM
Nick they look SEX
I'm not sure about the bonnet pins - they look kinda crap sometimes BUT they give a hint of there being something a bit special underneath LOL
I might get some nice flush fitting ones and cut them into the bonnet instead

Been meaning to change the standard plates, its only a little mod but can standout!

OH MY GOD I havent updated this in ages
Well I'll drag it kicking and screaming back up to the top
Little update
As most of you will know by now I am battling to fix a random miss fire on the engine. Most days she runs sweet as a nut but some days all I get is miss firing and a total loss of power
I have so far changed the following :-
Fuel filter - brand new
Injectors - 206 spec brand new
Injector rail - 206 spec brand new
Idle control valve - saxo scrap yard
Throttle positions sensor - saxo scrap yard
MAP sensor - saxo scrap yard
Fuel pump - Saxo VTS low mileage
Coil pack - brand new
Spark plugs - brand new NGK
Lambda sensor - brand new
Its getting tiring, I mean its nice that everything on the car is nearly new but my wallet is taking a lot of abuse from me which it doesn't need
I've just been to pug and bought a crank positions sensor for £25 which is the last thing im going to try
After that Im fairly sure its wiring loom (the lovely Rich from scotland is posting one of those to me to try) or ecu (*gulp*)
Also managed to kerb one of my VTS alloys a few weeks back and today one of my shock absorbers has totally died when I hit a 300ft deep pothole in lincoln (thankyou lincolnshire council, my tax is money fucking well spent!!!)
So now looking for some spax shock absorbers and possibly some new alloys, either that or send mine off to be refurbed and powder coated!
Joe is also tempting me with some cheap morettes sprayed black - and im very tempted with buckets and a bit of a stripped out look at the back aswell! LOL
phil go back to that pot hole, take a pic of it, send it to the council along with a bill of the damage and they will fund it. my mate did that with his gf's vtr, he found a pothole took a pic and got a fake bill along with curbed alloy pic and they sent him 600quid lol
mikey_b
05-07-2007, 05:45 PM
my mate did the same in his e30 325i, went through a massive potholeand buckled 2 alloys, took a pic and sent a bill off, they paid for a full set of 17" alpina rims.
Fuzzy Orange
05-07-2007, 09:15 PM
Just been (thanks guys)
Its at least 3" deep and about a foot long, its the whole side of a grate and the grate is exposed
My alloy is chipped, the tyre looks about fucked and the suspension has actually exploded
So gonna tell them alloy cant be replaced as unique black vts rim and needs refurbing, and new tyre and a pair of shocks (as you cant replace one at a time)
Hate councils, they've closes lincoln town centre for 6 weeks while they do some crap to some pavements that were fine before, but there are 4" deep pot holes EVERYWHERE I have to weave all the way to work

That green looks mad, and soooooooo different. Big thumbs up.
I really like the first blue :)

Except the pink. :P

That champagne brown with some deep dish euro rims would then be THE best 106 in the country, not contest. (except possibly Bic's)

All nice, only thing is theres already a mag featured 106 in a similar champagne brown colour, so not good if you going for individuality, but still nice anyhow :D

Kawasaki green?! Is this 2001 and everyone has just comeback from watching The Fast and The Furious?! lol ;) It's all about the Porsche 911 GT3 RS green with black contrast (roof, wheels etc). Cheeck it out:

Do it Phil. Do it.

I dont see much difference matt - but im guessing it'll be easier to get a paint code for a kawasaki than a limited edition 911 GT3 RS LMFAO
