Just fitted a 2000 Quiksilver 1.4 Engine into a 1998 Model and i have a question regarding the inlet manifold.
Everything from the 1998 engine was used on the 2000 block. Inlet, mani, etc etc. There have been 2 problems soo far. One was the oil filter which i sorted and the second is the inlet manifold. The port spacings on the new block do no match the inlet from the 98 model so im fitting a inlet from a 2000 model.
Will i have any problems wiring up the inlet as havent changed the wiring loom? So will the sensors all connect up fine? Just wondering if there were any differences?
Many thanks :)

Take the sensors (map sensor, throttle position sensor, idle control valve) from the 1998 inlet - and put them onto the 2000 inlet
The 2000 inlet has a plastic throttle body so doesnt have an air temp sensor or a heater as it doesnt suffer from throttle freeze
So just leave those 2 cables hanging freely in engine bay
Will work fine mate :)

You got a pic of a 2000 inlet bud? Can i not use the throttle body from the 98 inlet?

I wouldnt - the ICV feed hole is in a different place
The only change on the throttle bodies is they replaced the metal design with plastic to stop them freezing in winter
Dont have a pic handy unless theres any on www.fuzzy-orange.com/gallery/ (http://www.fuzzy-orange.com/gallery/) from when I did the engine conversion

Fair enough ill get it on , plug those sensors up and fingers crossed no problems :)

2000 inlet fitted fine and cured the idle problem and car starts fine but the car is only running on 2 cylinders. What is the most likely cause? Coilpack? ECU related?

Coilpack
Are you using the 2000 coil pack? 2000 ecu?
Or ...?

if coilpack has spat its dummy then usually engine management light will flash, and ecus are notoriously bad on them so wouldnt be something extraordinary lol! just do what i did mate, phone aa and say car running funny can you come plug diagnostic thingy in it please LOL:D

When they fail they rarely flag an ecu light - trust me I've had 3 go and so did dan_c and his had no light
Just ran on 2 cylinders
But it does depend which pack and ecu you are using as they arent cross compatible :)

Its a 98 car. Only thing that is 2000 is engine block/head and inlet manifold
SO 1998 ECU, Coilpack etc etc

Fitted another coilpack and didnt work - car still running on 2 cylinders
Found out that 2 of the 4 injectors arent working though
