Does anyone know whether the bottom end (or top end) of a 98BHP VTR engine will fit onto a 2000 Quiky engine...

I'm tempted to do it, well the bottom end for definite, as mat106 as one I may buy off him...

Cheers!!!

P.S. Aidy and Mark... Don't start... LOL!!!

fred
23-11-2007, 01:30 PM
Why?! lol, just fit a sodding vtr engine and not having to worry about changing the inlet over..

Are you in love with your quicky head?

they do yeah mate, but for the extra 250 dont fook about and get a valver dropped in

Wizza
23-11-2007, 01:40 PM
^^^Don't want a Valver to be honest due to insurance... This is only due to te fact the engines look remotely the same with a VTR and Quiky...

Well if I do the full conversion it won't be done until around March... Tell them to keep a VTR... LOL!!!

depending who ur with and ur no claims status, insurnace is hardly any different to a quicky, trust me on that from fist hand experience

Fitting a vtr bottom end will raise compression and capacity to around 1.5l I think

I dont know how well it would run on a standard ecu! :(

just drop in a full engine or your a wanker. no point messing with half of this and half of that. no point at all. been there, done that.

as for insurance mine jumped 400 quid on the xsi when it went 16v

id say you will have to run vtr injectors if you are going to do it wiz mate

Well as I have said I doubt anything major to teh engine will be done until at least March...

I would have done teh VTR bottom end sooner, but at teh moment I wil leave it as it is... Thanks for the advice though guys!!!

i just got a vtr head for my quiky and i will be getting a vtr bottm end this is as i don't want to change the engine number so when i come to sell it it still looks standard cuz the engine number hasn't changed.

Ermmm you cant put a vtr head on a quiky block!!
Well you can but its such a bodge

As aidy says - £400 and you'll get an entire VTR engine conversion, which will be a lot more reliable than some half/half hybrid crap

I've never known anyone check the engine number against the chassis number when they buy a car - and do you REALLY think you can sell it as a 1.4 when it has 110bhp LOL!!!!

Plus it is illegal not to inform the DVLA of an engine change, and of course voids your insurance

Quicksilver engines are ally bottom ends, vtr engines are cast iron bottom end.
Total waste of time and money you'd need timing belt kit, headgasket, headbolts and lots more.
Just fit the full engine and it'll be reliable and fast.

If your wanting it doing then let us know and we'll find you a nice complete low mileage engine, gearbox etc

cheers Mark (Frenchsport Tuning)

the head is getting ported and pollished me a am m8 at college are making a race engine for our 60 hour project to go in my quiky thats why we are making it so we can still run in the same groupe as all the other 1.4's in track days and race meats and also to see if it can be done and work thats all. its not being built to be reliable.
