oh dear ive just read in a french car mag that i can fit 600cc bike carbs and still keep exhisting ecu is there something that am missing here as far as i was aware carbs didnt need ecu to run.
did they mean throttle boddies from a 600cc bike.
as this was quite intresting idea as there is a few sets of carbs on ebay for sensible money

the ecu is jus used to start the car i believe! and you need to make up a manifold to get a kit is costs around 500-600 quid but that includes the manifold, the carbs, fuel regulator and the carbs rejetted

The ECU just does the sparks. The fueling is all done by the carbs. They are cheap TB's will good gains.

i know nothing!!!!

lmao...
theres a couple of reasons your 16v will keep the ecu.

as already said (i think) your ecu if left to control the ignition side of the 16v it also primes fuel pump and runs tacho ( i beleive ) so thats another reason to save rewiring them bits....

also

unlike 8v`s you cant just bolt a dizzy on...

so its either keep std unit or go with a ignition only mapable ecu such as omex100

but to be honest if you go that far you might aswell get it on bike bodies and get a full standalone ecu to run it all...

have a word with laxy gti on the pgac he`s running emerald ecu and r6 throttle bodies on his gti.....

cheers

when I was looking to build an engine with bike carbs I was going to leave the carbs to constrol the fuelling and get an ECU to control the ignition advance.

you can buy R6 bodies off ebay for under £90, the emerarld ecu is £520+ vat and a remap is £200 + vat, but i think they do 3 switchable maps for you changed by a little switch on the dash.

Not sure on the inlet manifold tho.

Cheeky, carbs dont sound as nice as ITB's in my oppinion. But they are a damn sight cheaper!

carbs are cheaper for a reason. they sound nothing compared to TB's and arent as powerful

well thats bollox!!!

once set up properly theres funk all in it top end.. the bodies will give a smoother more driveable power curve though

as for noise... thats a personal thing like saying white wheels look better than black...
