Local parts factors can sort you if you hate delivery times.

Changing clutch is the only job i've ever done on my 106 that took me 2 full days and nights and made me want to hang myself :(

Clutch changes are easy compared to some jobs on the car.
Takes few hours tops if you've got your head on straight.

Impossible!!
The gearbox change and the rear beam lowering are the 2 worst things ive ever done
To get to the gearbox you need to remove both driveshafts and passenger strut assembly - thats a few hours on its own
Then all the wiring in the engine bay needs to be removed - you have to remove the battery and battery tray to get to it
Then its a series of bolts holding it to the block - you need to support the engine and gearbox while doing it as you have to remove the engine mounts aswell!!
When you've undone the bolts it comes off and if your lucky through the passenger wheel arch - with a lot of waggling and moving the engine about
Then you can unbolt the clutch assembly and refit
Getting the gearbox back onto the engine without touching the clutch arm and dislodging the release bearing is a nightmare
And then building it all up
Took me a day to get it stripped down and gearbox off
Then another day to put the gearbox back on and rebuild it all back up!
GTi beam fitting - I did in a day, but lowering it took me a weekend again LOL

Fuzzy - i thought you were a god when it came to things like that!
you knwo how to make motivational speaches! i wonder what you say when it goes pete tong!
i can say a clutch in a ax and saxo have both taken me in the region of 2hours! and a complete engine and box swap in about 6!
one major thing you missed Fuzzy was drain the gear box first! pulling the driveshafts out wil cause the EP80 to drip all over the floor! this can be very messy!!!

Well im gonna go for it:D
Got a haynes wats the worst that could happen:)
Time is nothing if it saves me a wod of money:)
But no one has said if this is the right clutchhttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWA:IT&ih=002
Fuzz do you think you can do a guide on the rear beam conversion??
What will i need?

Heh ok mate
All I know is I lowered a car front end at the weekend and it took me 4 hours just to take the struts off and the driveshafts out, change springs and put it back together
So to remove struts, shafts, drain gearbox (which by the way I usually just stick a bucket under when I pull the driveshafts out LOL)
And remove lower engine mount, battery, wiring loom around gearbox, air box, upper gearbox mount, lower engine and pull gearbox off
Then rebuild back up
Takes me 2 days
If you can do it in 6 hours - you can do my clutches from now on :p

while we are on clutches can anyone explain to me the adantages of fast road clutches etc? and are they worth it? thx
Marcs

Ive heard its not worth it unless your planning to go above like 200 bhp
Other wise no need.
Dont quote me though!

I have a copy of the software they use at peugeot so I can look up part numbers for bits and pieces
If you want the clutch I have it'll only be £20 + P&P or something mate
I'll get the parts number for you tonight matey :)

the 1.6's used a bigger flywheel and clutch assembly
