yeah should be able to be done... been done to VTS and cyclones...
just sand the hell out of them.. getting finer and finer.. then laquer them up :)

you cant laquer them because the surface is to smooth after and it doesnt take to it!! im in the middle of doing my vts wheels like this, well on my third!! and a word of advise if you dont have much time or patience then just dont!! take like 6 hours a wheel and thats on vts wheels which are easier to do than gti
heres the pic i took of one of mine :), hadnt had all the polishing done at that time tho

there we go... just sanding down...
hmm didnt know about the laquer, im sure if you did a very light coat first the built up it would stick, i have done it to other things - but ill take your word for it, plus it wouldnt look as shiny!!

its not just sanding tho, you need to finish them. i had to buy 2 different types of mop, cutting compound, finishing compound, autosol then a few polishing mops. add to this all your sand paper, wet n dry paper and i had to buy a detailed sander too, cost a fair bit
honestly mate i dont belive for a second you could get laquer to stick to these, it would be like laquering a mirror. you have to wax them an then re wax them every week or so

im still well up for doing them, time isnt an issue i have 3 days a week off atm. I have loads of sand paper, just not sure bout the mops and stuff thats where i get lost.

i started with 80 grade s/ paper n worked upto 2500. you need a sisal mop, stitched mob and loose polishing mop, cutting compound for sisal, finishing compound for stitched and autosol metal polish for polishing to a shinnnney finish :D i got a few tho as they do get ruined after a wheel or 2. cost me around 50-60 quid in materials
gd luck with it mate, post some progress of how you get on, include some pics of your blisters etc there gd fun lol

i know this is an old topic but wanted to know does the finish return as lets say and actua chrome dipped wheel? or a bit duller or beter? if this process is done do you have to olish the wheels everyweek or will they get duller again? if the wheels get kurbed are you in shit? i wouldnd mind a set of these as there aint alot about.but chrome wheels are out but its still about modyfieng standard partsin my opinion

Ive got a machine in work that polish's bear metal to a chrome finish but was told that it goes dull after a while and lacquer doesn't stick to it
Does anybody know if there is a special lacquer that is on the market or anything else I could use instead of waxing them every week?
