*Dont look if you dont want to see the true state of my car ;) (the camera does lie)

What is the best way, if any, to get rid of these? (they're on the roof btw)
I was speaking to a mechanic the other day and asked about a respray, He said that they'll never go away, but surely if i can get the roof sanded right back to the metal, primer it then get it sprayed proper job then will taht sort them out?

Its quite upsetting cause i wanna make my car look half decent but if these buggers wont go away then ill have to scrap him after a year or so when i want something like an XSI rather than turning this one into a replica....

I can't see the pics atm, but if its rust and if its surface rust you could get away with a sand it down and respray it. If its gone deeper into the metal then potentialy weld abit of a plate over it then blend it in and paint

sometimes you've gotta make something worse before it gets better

its really easy if its on the roof, just drop the headling - if its anything but surface, the panels so thin it'll come through both sides.

just painting over it wont stop it and you will still see it

you need to rub it back as far as you can so its just like the root of the rust left, treat it then fill over the top to build the area uv rubbed down back up,then prime and paint it

it will come back after about a year 2 if your lucky!

also be careful just leaveing it, the roof skin is only a bit thicker than a sheet of cardboard so watch it dont rust throguh it

well a bit of good news?, took the interior roof carpet thing off today and they havent gone through, so what do you guys recomend.
Send it off to a spray joint and get them to sand it right down, primer it and do it back up...

Is there a spray rust treatment sort of thing i can buy, i know you can hand paint it on but thats a bit dodgy on the roof lmao...

anyone?

it looks like surface rust, you need to rub it down either way to find out so id go for it, you cant make it any worse coz it will just get worse itself lol. rub it down so its smooth then put a few heavey coats of primer on it so it dont rust agen, it will rust agen but not for a while.

I use Dinitrol RC800, really pleased with the results, I wouldn't consider using anything else.

Even on lightly rusted areas, paint it on, leave to dry & prime & paint over.
