spring compressers
spanners

hammer

Yeah I have written a guide before but havent got the time right now
Its a bitch of a job - basically
Driveshaft nuts loosened, jack car up, remove track rod end, remove drop link, loosen strut top nuts and shocker top 19mm nut, remove wishbone ball joint retaining bolt, knock wishbone free which always rips your driveshaft out the gearbox, get mate to undo top strut nuts and pull the strut out
Then you have to compress the springs, undo the top 19mm nut, dismantle the strut assembly, fit new springs and rebuild in reverse order
I can whack a pair of struts off, new springs and rebuild in about 4-6 hours now
But usually the drop links are rusted on - so you need a new set of drop links just in case you cant get the old ones off, theres a bit of a knack to tightening the track rod ends without the ball joint spinning around..
Etc.. etc..

You really also could do with a ball joint splitter for the track rod ends

thats what a hammer is for.
if your used to doing this kind of stuff for a living u get to know the correct places to hit to remove them.
just saves you guys sending more money on tools wen not needed

Yeah but for those that dont do this stuff for a living - bashing the hell out of your track rod end will knacker the thread and mean you need to buy new track rod ends, which are a lot more expensive than a £10 ball joint splitter :) :p

you dont touch the track rod end when hitting it

Fitted my new bilstein sports, front springs to the front and sport rear dampers in just over 2 hours taking time today, had to go get new track rod end driver side mine was all seized to hell and cross threaded.
Tell you what the damper rod is massive as thick as the casing near enoughh handles pretty well now
