hello people,
i have not long had my gti and the abs does not seem to be working! even when i turn the the ignition key the abs light does not show on the clocks ?
has any one experienced any problem like this or know any checks i can do
before taking it to the garage ? ? ? :(
any information / comments appreciated.

check the bulb in the dash for a start

As above mate... The first thing you need to check is whether theres even a bulb in the instrument panel...
Next step would be to get it on the diagnostic machine and see if it brings up any faults on your ABS.... 95% of the time its a ABS sensor.. I have had 1 go on my GTi... A very common thing to go...
Get the sensor replaced and you should be all sorted... :)

is the abs light the one of the back of the car and skid marks? that light came on for a bit when i first got the car but not noticed it since! was unsure what it was

its not been on for a few months....... :p

The best way to test the ABS, is to stamp on the brakes @ 90 mph..... You'll soon know.... Hahaha... :D :p

thats how i found out my abs was not working slammed the brakes on
and shit me self ! lol
