Hi people,
there is a lad who is after my 106 GTi Magnex Centre pipe and backbox. Will
this fit his 106 Quicksilver or is it not a straight swap.
Im pretty sure I heard both cars use the same exhaust but it would be great
if somebody could clear this up.

Thanks,
Rushy

They do use the same system mate so it would fit

Only thing that might be different is the rear box mounting point is sometimes in a different place as I found when I working on mikey_b's gti

The one at the front is original quiky, the one at the back is gti (my pugsport didnt fit either lol)

But as you can see the gti one is bolt-on so you could steal one from a gti in a scrappy or buy one from pug - if the quiky is pre-2k it'll probably bolt straight on mate

Cats on the 1.4s are in the manifold/downpipe after 2000, and before there under the car, only diff really.

phil hope your going to get some hammerite slapped on, under there!

Thanks for the info guys, mine is an 2002 plate, not too sure on the lads
quicksilver.
Dont think he is having the decat pipe off me, just the centre bit and
backbox.

Just out of curiosity, can you use hammerite over already rusted bits or
do you need to remove the rust first?

If his has the cat in the manifold (2000+) he will need the decat aswell mate otherwise it'll be 2ft too short LOL

Raz - I keep putting it off mate - the whole area under the boot needs wire brushing down and hammeriting but I just havent had time :(

better to get it best you can with a wire brush, and grease free.

Actually I lie - its not the time I lack its the enthusiasm to lay under a car with goggles on and then spending the rest of the night trying to wash rust out of my mouth!
