Anyone got one lying around?
Im thinking of maybe trying to get a set fitted to mine with Vented Ones.
Although my car rarely hits 3 figures, its the set now thats got warped and im getting pissed off with fitting cheap ass solid ones.
My car is running 4 stud anyway but Steelie efforts and i assume if got the PCD as GTi Wheels?
Has anyone tried fitting vented ones under solid disc calipers?
If i can get:
Overall Diameter
Thickness of Pad Area (radius measurement)
Inside Diameter which fits over the Hub.
Inside Offset (Measurement difference between hub face and disc face
Thickness of the actual disc
I cna then compare them all to my ones to see if they fit and be able to fit between the pads on my calipers.
Can anyone help out here?
Cheers.

If its for the diesel, then the vented ones will fit direct to the hubs, but the calipers won`t fit. The vented ones are 247mm x 20.5mm and the solid ones on the diesel non abs are 247mm x 10mm, with the same centre bore of 66mm. It would be easier to buy some calipers and brakets off a scrap car and just buy new discs and pads, the surface area should be the same but the calipers won`t fit back on with pads in.

They wont fit at all - dont even try - different offset
You WILL need to buy gti/vtr/vts calipers and pads aswell mate

Wayhay. It was a quiet night so i decided to blag some ATE GTi Calipers from a well known source for the Grand Total of £0.
I managed to get 1 disc but i'll be going for new ones as these are rusted heavily, and the pads have taken a beating.
All i wanna know is, will GTi Discs fit under 13 inch Steelies! :o
Anyone or am i gonna be the one to find out?

I dont know anyone who has tried
BUT they are 247mm same as the quiky ones - just vented instead of solid
So in theory they should be fine
I've got 266mm 206 gti ones under 14" steelies - so 247 under 13" should be ok

OK, the Calipers are going to be sandblasted, the past owner decided to Paint them a shite Blue and didnt do a very good job at it either!
I'll take some pictures and hopefully sort a write up for ya'all!

13 inch steels fit over gti brakes, but the backing plates front and rear need to be bent a bit, as they rub on the wheel. I had some on for a few weeks while i tried to find some cheap alloys and all i had were steels.

No backing plates, then you won`t have any problems then, but they are still quite close. My backing plates protrute about 5mm and that is all it needs to rub.

13 inch steels fit over gti brakes
2 Days of cocking about with this conversion and im nowhere near the end of the tunnel.
it all went on like this:
Heres the condition of the calipers i recieved them.

http://www.ax-rated.co.uk/pictures/106_brakes2.JPG
As above, i decided that it wasnt a rush fitment so i had time to get them cleaned.
With some family service assistance, the blighters were shot with high speed grains of sand.
I also decided on some protection for the calipers.
Cheesy ass kev caliper paint wasnt on my list at all and would have liked to go for a clear coating to keep the shiney metal finish for years to come.
However, various internet searches came up nil, with most coverings not touching the operating temperature that brakes venture to. And the ones that did over the £10 mark with delivery charges.
My brother did however spot Barbeque Black spray paint in Wilkinsons for £2! And goes up to 600'C! Perfect!
Off they went for blasting and sprayed in situ, finish was awesome.
Away with the conversion it was:

Here are my shite solid disc DERV efforts, warped at the moment too, gradual braking gives wheel wobble and surging braking from the car at low speeds.
Off came the discs and fitted the vented GTi ones for show.
http://www.ax-rated.co.uk/pictures/106_brakes4.JPG
All was going well, off came the Bendix Caliper for the new GTi one, went to tighten up the caliper to find out the hard way that i had the wrong bolts! Bendix ones are long with a 50mm odd shank but the GTi bolts needed much shorter bolts.
Someone could have mentioned that going from Solid to vented setup needs the bolts as well.
I decided to mess around with a fitment of the DERV calipers to see what the difference was. They fit OK but the disc and caliper match meant a BAD offset.

Bollocks, on went the old system, re bled and packed up tamping.
Next day, numerous calls to citroen/peugoet dealers for prices and times for bolt delivery, i got pissed off, whipped out a bolt in work and identified it as M12 with a 1.5 pitch instead of a 1.75 one.
Tonight saw a re-match.

All fitted and bled, check out the caliper finish, definate close to brand new factory finish, well happy with that.
The calipers need to reach 200'C to be cured by heat.
All bled and sorted, went to fit the wheel to find out IT DIDNT FIT!
The caliper and disc fits into the steelie but the caliper is fouling on the outer face, where the steelie bolts onto the disc/hub!
This is a deffo GAME OVER, GTi alloys are needed.
And heres the proof:

Ah well, anyone got GTi rims?

Good upgrade from solids, i must have been lucky then as i had some wheels off an xt and i went down the motorway to pick some wheels up. Try ebay for wheels, as i just bought 1 17 inch alloy for £10, which if i find anymore that cheap, it will be a cheap set. There were some 306 xsi alloys really cheap last week, gti ones go for about £100 with good tyres, or the ones ive seen have anyway.
