planning on upgrading my standard speak system in my 106 quiksilver
thanks to the threads such a FAQ's on ICE etc i think i'm getting a better understand of what i'm looking for/ need.
i know i need 5.25" (13cm) speakers in the front
and i need 4" (10cm) for the back.

i've already decided on making a full alpine system, as i can utilise my dads alpine CDA-9847r
;this has 3 pre-outs so is perfect as i could potentially use 3 indivudual amps:
1 for front
1 for rear
1 for sub

i've decided on what speakers i want to use

for the front, component set i'm looking at these:

alpine spr-13 s
specs:

Peak Power: 300W
RMS Power: 100W
Frequency Response: 70Hz - 27kHz
Sensitivity: 86dB, 1W/1m

for the rear
some sort of 10cm coaxial- again apline- (i did find a set- can't remember it now!)

sub wise- i was looking at alpine SRW-1222D
RMS 500W
peak 1500W
2ohm+2ohm

possibly buying a set of two of these- not sure yet

The main problem i have is chosing the right amplifiers for these- i half understand the difference between RMS and peak W, however i don't know what amps to use for the front set of components, then the sub etc.
any help will be appreciated, any recommendations?
and if it was all alpine, even better :D

right you dont need seperate amps

if you feel you really must amp rears (which tbh you dont) use a 4 channel you will still need your rca outputs the same for balance.

depends on budget and what you want,

daddy alpine is type X sub (10" prefered) and pdx1000.1 will cost around 1k thou and sound the tits

or can go for alpine type L stuff and alpine mrd 300 you wont be dissapointed but would cost around £250 ish

i know i could get away with a 4 channel, and you're probably right in that i don't really need to amp the rears-
but i guess i want to use 3 separate amps for each area so that i can fine tune it accordingly with low pass/ high pass filters etc.

sadly my budget isn't that large!:P i'll probably be buying in stages, i.e. get the sub sorted, then front then rear or something.
do you know which amp would be best suited to the R series 12" sub?

you will get just as much adjustment out of a 4 channel amp as you will to 2 channel amps,

just single type R? single or daul voice coil version

cheers for that, it will save me quite abit of money that way!
only need to buy 1 4 channel amp now, and hassle more to the point.
i'm guessing the RCA outputs on the headunit would still be used, i.e. both the front and rear set go to the amp?

as for the sub, i apologise, i'm only just starting to get my head around it,
it's a dual voice coil- not that i know what the difference is?

you could go for pdx high range pdx500.1 or cheaper mrd500

the MRD500 would work well with the 2ohms version of the sub
perfct RMS match at 500,
how much do they go for these days? i'm guessing u get them second hand.
am i right in thinking that if i went for a 4 ohms version of the sub this might provide better sound quality even at lower levels, or is it just a myth?
