Hey,
Im getting a funny noise when I start my engine, it only happens when I start it. And it doesnt happen all the time, it mainly happens every other time I start it.
Its hard to explain the noise , its bassically a second after the engine has started and does it for 1 - 4 seconds.
Thanks,
Rallye James

Its sort of like that noise? ... What could that be?
Its X reg and has done around 55K. I think this noise started a 2 weeks ago when I went through loads of water and my car cut out (Had to re-set engine swtich), dont know if that could have caused it and water could be stuck some where? ...

If it's a gurgling sploshing noise that sounds like it's behind the dash, it may be air in the cooling system. Happened on mine before. Need to empty it all out and refill. Just run the car and open the bleed points (one on rad and one behind engine drivers side) and wait for water to come out then that should be air free.

Thanks alot mate,
Will try that later today, could you try and explain where the one is by the engine? I cant see that one? ...
Its a bolt right on the top of the thermostat housing.

what was the outcome of this??
I get this noise sometimes, well, i wouldnt so much describe it as a liquid noise, more of a, 1sec i had it, a whirring noise.. like a 'errrr'.. It only happens when it's been Cold outside and left overnight..??
Anyone had this? Mine only lasts 1 second rather than 4.

Yeah, thats it.
It does happen when its been left for adges, but also sometimes happens when I've turned the car off and back on.
It mostly happens for 1 second, but some does it longer when its colder.
It happens after the RIGHT after the engine has started? :)

could it be the alternator belt slipping?
mine is making not a squeel but sort of a high pitched whine at start, ive put it down to being a belt as its from drivers side of engine bay (well thats one of my noises anyhow)
do get a whine from passenger side and also a squeel definitely 3 seperate noises, only one is constant.

rallye james was suspecting air in the water system, and suggested to fill up and bleed, you were asking where the bleeding point at the thermostate housing is, I had a picture from my "service-phlog" . its also one at the intake on the radioator, and one close to the canister valve erm thingy (don't know the English word)
(follow the rust-stripe at leftmost here, it's leading to the nut for the bleeding point.)
