Right i have two main problems and believe they may be linked,
Firstly;
since i bought the car ive had problems starting my car, when i turn the key i get a noise as though the car is trying to start up, but feels as though there is nothing there. If i put a little throttle on this problem is ussually overcome and starts fine. This problem is intermitent(sp) and doesn't seem to be affected by them weather, (get this problem in summer and winter).

My second problem:
is that when i put my clutch down my revs drop rapidly and below the iddle point, once or twice i have had the engine light glow and it feels as though the car is trying to stall as im driving along, this problem worsens if i have driven the car hard. I sometimes get this when i start the car in neutral, the car will start i take my foot off of the throttle and then the revs drop very low and sometimes stalls. Also when i blip the throttle when the car is sat in neutral, the revs go up then down past the iddle and levels off at neutral (and again has stalled doing this once before).
I think it may be one of two things after discussing with the lads at work, first guess is that it is the iddle control valve (similar problem to quiksilverTR), or something to do with fuelling, maybe the injectors or fuel pumps nakerd.

If you have any ideas as to what it could be please put em forward, pretty sick of it now.

Sorry about the long post guys, a little worried my pride and joys going to die on me, thanks for any help you can give me.

Ermm, well if u have an Idle air Control Valve then replace that.
I have a carb aparently so i dont have 1.

Go to "search" and look it up its been posted up before

the first one... is that where the starter motor is kicking in but the engine doesnt actually start? Im not sure if i quite understand the first problem youve got but i know that my immobilser some times doesnt dis-engage properly and you have to lock/unlock your car a few times.
But judging by the fact that your starts with a bit of throttle i think im probably on the wrong end of the stick

Yeah as said usual bag of trick

Idle stepper motor, throttle position sensor, coil pack, map sensor

Cheers people

Thats what a carb is LOL

Multi point has a throttle body, and the injectors are mounted behind that on the inlet manifold

Single point has a single injector inside the carburettor which houses the butterfly :)

Its not a carb then is it... how can it be a SPI with a carb.... it just cant...

carbs are a really messy way of mixing air and fuel which uses a float, jet and fuel bowl before its simply sprayed into the intake...

yeah SPI's look abit alike carbs but are far from them in terms of operation, as you said it contains a single injector controlled by the ECU, unlike carbs that dont not use an ECU to control them.

Raz is right, with single Injector is in the Inlet manifold i do believe.
