    1. Shot of the Month

    November 2011's Contest - Off Road.

    Over the last year, a few of the members of 106owners (myself included) have been running the SOTM contest each month.

    Having received mixed results, it became apparent that although many participate each month, a large majority of you miss out on what could potentially be a massive ego boost.

    Someone who hasn't missed this opportunity is Novembers winner, who's picture write up was somewhat delayed was due to the developments following, I hope Superjosh19 however forgives me for my slow efforts.

    Novembers theme was off road, something that attracted a large variety of unusual shots (including far too many pictures of cars upsidedown than can be considered be normal). However for most Josh's entry stood out from the pack.

    Shot of the Month 2012.

    Moving on however to my next point, I've decided to discontinue the contest.

    Only kidding.

    While the pictures entered have always shown effort, their has up until now not any external drive to take part, something that the majority of other car clubs give to their members - in most cases, this takes the form of a sponsorship.

    Homepage features have been somewhat unreliable over the year, the blame for that lays with me. Although i'm hoping my efforts in the following area will make up for this.

    For the last month or so, i've been arranging for a unique twist to the sponsoship idea for the 106owners contest.

    Now, originally the idea of offering some cleaning products, or a voucher for something did cross my mind - but you can buy things like that. There's no exclusivity to winning a £20 bottle of wax and a microfibre cloth. Therefore there's no real drive to win, or even take part.

    With that in mind, I am proud to announce that the sponsor's for the SOTM contest this year are; PFC.

    What does that mean?

    Well, in return for sponsorship of the Shot of the month, winners of the contest each month will have their photo, along with a small selection of other photos of their car printed in a spotlight feature of the PFC magazine with the potential for a full feature should the editors take a shine to your car.

    Discussion of the contest as always can be made in the SOTM Chat thread, and for any of you wishing to participate please look here.

    If you have any questions regarding the above, feel free to PM me.

    Here's hoping 2012 is a great year for both the contest and the club!

    1. Shot of the Month

    Theres a cliché I'm sure you've heard along the lines of "A picture paints a thousand words". For 6 people this year, that's exactly what they were aiming for. A hell of a lot of effort was filtered down to only 800 x 600 pixels.

    Now technically, if I was staying true to my word, I would do an individual write up for each picture, however chances are it would make for a very repetitive read as i'm not that imaginative! So alas I'm afraid I've grouped the winners together.

    Anyway to the important part;

    Our first unshown winner comes all the way back from May during the contests "Industrial theme". Erniepug106, and his Indigo GTi still catch my eye with this photo. The months theme grabbed a lot of attention and there was some genuinely awesome photos with this at the top of the pile;

    June's winner however continued in a rather different manner, the "hide and seek" or "peek-a-boo" theme proved quite entertaining - With Martinheath's entry leaving me rather lost for words (something i'm sure many of you will concur with...); however something I can unquestionably say is that it probably hasn't ever been done before and probably hasn't since;

    Photograph:

    For July, we were left with another heated contest, the months theme was "reflections" and with it came several top notch entries and some very very clean cars. Az106 won however with the following picture. Well deserved in my opinion.

    August... what can I say. The theme - Comical Place names. The winner - Daryl-of-brax. The picture - speaks for itself.

    Now moving onto the last of our "summer" seasons, septembers winner was someone who has contributed much more than just a photograph to the competition. Matt fills in for me whenever I slack and shares the duties for the SOTM contest, something that at time's can be extremely time consuming. So winning Septembers group theme is more than fitting for him, and with a cracking picture to match!

    Photograph:

    Last and by no means least was what I think may be our first female winner? of 2011 at least. Dori took a very different approach from the competitors. October's theme was "contrast". Something that's very open to interpretation, and although the entries were very varied with lots of interesting and different approaches to the theme they all carried it out very well.

    Photograph:

    The final contest of the year is currently under way with a somewhat obvious but very well suited theme of christmas! So get your wrapping paper and tinsel out, theres less than four weeks left.
